The song was written and arranged by Lyder Røed and produced by Lars Horntveth.
It is played by OJKOS (orchestra for jazz composers in Oslo) with guests from Fieh.

When I wrote my second piece for OJKOS, I listened a lot to Peter Gabriel, especially his first solo record - The one with a picture of a section of a car generally referred to as 'car'. The song 'Here Comes The Flood' from that record is perhaps the main source of inspiration for the song 'Cheap Love'. I wanted to write something like that. The drum breaks into the choruses are a small tip of the hat to Peter Gabriel.

Of course, the song became something completely different when I finished writing it. Sofie Tollefsbøl wrote lyrics for it and added absolutely beautiful vocals, while Lars Horntveth contributed with his aesthetic taste and some wonderful synth spice on top. For example, the synth solo on the outro to the song is a single take with Lars in Pooka studio.

The video for the song was made by an artist called Tor-Finn Malum Fitje. Tor-Finn is a master at creating intricate animated videos that he programs himself. If you visit his website Tor-Finn.com there is a lot of good stuff if you want to see more and find out more about him. This video is primarily made to bring out the instrumental intro to the song. It starts from the cover art of the song (also created by Tor-Finn) which consists of a perfume bottle containing "Cheap Love" and it develops from there. Waves and lines twist in and out of each other and create a kind of psychedelic universe.
